Lacrosse and hockey are team sports, and we want to ensure everyone has a fair shot.

Q: Does Whitie Bensen Athletic accept used equipment trade ins?
A: We happily accept used hockey & lacrosse equipment for store credit towards another purchase or to trim the price off your in-store purchase that day. Store credit has no expiration! We’re flexible in accepting trade-ins and distributing store credit, but we do not bargain or negotiate prices. Our goal is to offer the most cost-effective method of getting you on the ice or the field.

Here is the list of items we happily accept:

  • Skates
  • Gloves
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Elbow Pads
  • Pants
  • Shin Pads
  • Goalie Equipment*

  • Helmets
  • Shafts
  • Heads
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Arm Pads
  • Goalie Chest Protectors

* excluding sticks and helmets

Q. What is the process for selling used equipment?
A: First, we classify the condition of the equipment by its wear & tear, production year, and assess work required to restore & resell the product. Next, we wash and refurbish all trade-ins to ensure clean, good-as-new gear. We take great pride in our ability to take unwanted equipment off your hands as well as provide a place where all players have a fair chance.

Q: How do I prepare for trade ins?
A: Take care to organize your used equipment. Check your equipment for rips and missing pieces, as we are unable to accept equipment in unusable condition. Please remember that if the piece of gear is used as a pair, (for ex: gloves, shin guards, etc) we’ll gladly accept both pieces as a pair.

Q: Is there an “expiration date” for trading in equipment?
A: If your equipment is in usable condition, we are able to accept it as we see fit, regardless of its age. Of course, if you have any doubts we are happy to take a look!

Q: What is the best time of year to buy used hockey equipment?
A: We accept equipment year round. However, our stock of trade ins is most plentiful from May until September, so make sure to stop in for your pre-season shopping!
